LEMMIKKI (2026)
Lemmikki is a dance work for warm-handed alter egos that are ready to step out of the dressing room and finally take their place in the front row.
The point of departure for the work is the idea that one’s relationship to dance is a lifelong cycle of romances. Recurrent experiences of falling in love, dreaming, vulnerability, anger, and fear of loss have layered multiple personas within a person. By playfully engaging with these different figures, the work reflects on disappearance and being seen. Which aspects are concealed, and who gets to dance the solo?
Lemmikki dances for strangeness, clumsiness, and naivety. It emerges from a love of dance and a conflicted relationship with its traditions, inviting us to wander toward greener pastures.
The work includes excerpts from Water Motor (1987) by postmodern dance pioneer Trisha Brown.
